Description:
This six-hour course provides a deep technical dive into the Son of Strike (SOS) advanced debugging tool for the .NET Framework, as well as advanced skills with WinDBG that can be used to master the debugging of .NET Framework applications. The course explains why you need SOS and WinDBG over the standard .NET debugger in addition to teaching you when and how to use both tools and delves into key WinDBG and SOS commands. Additionally the learner is given advanced tips on debugging ASP.NET apps.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Configure WinDBG to work with SOS.
• View program data using SOS.
• Manage garbage collection heaps using SOS.
• Manage the debug process using SOS.

Technical Requirements

To view this course, you need:

• A Pentium II, 256 MB RAM with a processor speed greater than or equal to 400 MHZ
• Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or higher
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
• Macromedia Flash 7.0 or higher (1MB disk space needed to install)
• Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher
• Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 or higher
• A Super VGA monitor with minimum screen resolution 1024x768, with 16-bit color.
• A sound card, and either speakers or headphones (for multi-media audio).
