Situation

The Michelin Training Centre or MTC in Stoke-On-Trent has for many years provided exceptionally high standards of training for people in the automotive industry, with over 3000 people being trained at MTC each year.

The situation: Michelin have found that the smaller outlets which are geographically dispersed, could not afford to have members of staff away from work for long periods of time with the additional costs of traditional classroom based training i.e accommodation, travel costs, employee down time.

Task

Michelins initial brief contained a requirement for a number of off-the-shelf courses, covering topics such as customer service and health & safety.

Action

Insegni's consultants researched various solutions for Michelin to ensure that the courses were relevant to the learners and that it would enhance their existing training. It was the relevance to the learners that made our consultants choose a different direction, to develop bespoke courses. The bespoke courses would be industry specific to compliment the work and so that the individuals gained the knowledge required.

Insegni identified and interviewed the development partner with the exact industry experience to design the courses. The Initial proposal agreed by Michelin was for 7 bespoke courses to be delivered through a Learning Management System (LMS) bespoke to Michelin requirements.

Insegni is now committed to working with Michelin over the next few years to ensure that Michelin's high standards of training are reciprocated within this and all of their future interactive learning projects.

"Insegni has helped Michelin find the right solution to meet our project needs and continues to assist us through every stage of the 3 year project. Their help has been fantastic." - Dominic Clark Partnerships and Programs Manager at Michelin UK.

Result

Michelin's training centre is now able to provide their own interactive courses to learners globally, The implementation of the LMS gives them the ability to track the progress of each individual learner undertaking the courses allowing them to refer people back to the classroom courses in the training centre should the need arise.

Since above solution was Implemented, Insegni has gone on to provide Michelin UK with solutions for health & safety e-learning and the provision of hardware, software and maintenance of computers for each one of the 150 depots in the MAP program.
